Past continuous
The continuous past is used for actions that were happening at a specific time in the past.
To form the continuous past, the auxiliary verb "to be" and the verb + ing are used. The auxiliary verb " to be " is in the past simple, but note that " to be" is an irregular verb.
Subject Auxiliary verb + ing
I, he, she, it was talking, eating, learning,doing,going.
you, we, they were talkin, eating, learnin,g, doing,going.
Affirmative
Subject + verb auxiliary(to be)+ verb+ ing.
